The icing
autopsy.

What happened during the icing event, why your turbines underproduced, and exactly how much was due to ice. Measured, analysed, and explained.

What you get

A report your
operations team can use.

AEP impact attribution

Production loss broken down by cause: ice, wind, mechanical, curtailment. Detailed numbers you can defend in a board meeting.

Icing event diagnostics

Go beyond the typical SCADA analysis, remove the impact from other factors. Hour-by-hour reconstruction of the icing event: onset, peak intensity, recovery, comparison against meteorological data and historical baseline.

Recovery recommendations

Specific, actionable changes: icing solutions, parameter adjustments, strategy planning. Backed by data, not generic best practice.

Insurance & warranty support

Documented, third-party attribution suitable for insurance claims, OEM warranty disputes, and PPA force-majeure documentation.

NERC compliance
assist.

A dedicated engagement to help qualifying icing-related events meet the documentation, analysis, and corrective-action expectations emerging under NERC's inverter-based resource framework. We deliver the icing-specific forensics, analysis, and engineering evidence your compliance team needs.

The context: Since May 15, 2026, qualifying non-BES inverter-based wind facilities (≥20 MVA interconnected at ≥60 kV) fall under NERC Category 2 registration requirements for Generator Owners and Generator Operators. Beginning October 1, 2026, PRC-030-1 establishes a 90-day timeline to complete analysis of qualifying IBR performance events, with additional corrective-action obligations where deficiencies are identified. Most operators do not maintain dedicated icing-analysis expertise in-house. We do.

European operators are out of NERC's scope. We can support equivalent event-analysis work under ENTSO-E and national grid-code frameworks if you operate in Europe; talk to us about scope.

PRC-030 · Event analysis
Corrective action, inside the compliance window.

For qualifying icing-related disturbances, trips, or abnormal performance events, we deliver root-cause analysis, supporting evidence, and corrective-action documentation aligned to PRC-030 reporting expectations. Built for the 90-day analysis timeline.

GADS · Outage attribution
Defensible cause codes and narratives.

Icing-event outage codes, hour-by-hour cause narratives, and back-up data packaged for your GADS-Wind submissions. Built on the same attribution engine as our AEP studies.

Audit · Evidence package
Documentation that survives review.

Timestamped data exports, methodology, and engineer-signed reports. Prepared for internal retention, insurer review, consultant validation, or Regional Entity inquiry.

Process

Four weeks,
typical engagement.

WEEK 1
Scope

Site walk-through with your team. SCADA data access, sensor history, period of interest defined.

WEEK 2
Ingest & validate

Pull SCADA, weather, and sensor data. Validate quality, flag outliers, build the baseline model.

WEEK 3
Analyse

Analyse the data against the baseline. Estimate production loss by event and likely cause.

WEEK 4
Deliver

Full report + presentation to your team. Recommendations prioritized by expected AEP recovery.
